Choirboys Flip Out

Young choristers at Chichester Cathedral took a pancake-flipping break during their rehearsal on Shrove Tuesday. Taking the break is an annual tradition for the boys, ages 8 to 12. Chichester Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Chichester, which almost exactly covers the counties of East and West Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove, stretching for nearly 100 miles along the south coast of England. Chichester is one of a decreasing number of English Cathedrals with free admission; it is open every day and all year with free entry, free guided tours, and special trails for children. • Christopher Ison photos
