Dallas Consecration

The Rev. Canon George Sumner became Bishop of Dallas on Saturday during a 2½-hour service of ordination and consecration at First United Methodist Church in downtown Dallas.

When he was elected, Bishop Sumner served as principal and professor of world mission at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto.

This service marks the first time that the Most Rev. Michael Curry has served as chief consecrator since his installation as presiding bishop. More than 1,500 people attended the service.
