El Salvador Elects Alvarado

Susana Barrera writes for Equilibrium (adapted from Google Translate):

The Anglican Church of El Salvador has chosen the Rev. David Alvarado as its new diocesan bishop. This was the second episcopal election carried out in the 84-year life of this ecclesiastical institution.

According to the canons of the church the bishops must be elected by a bicameral vote, that is, a group of lay people appointed to speak and vote, and diocesan clergy resident in the country. The bishop is elected with 50 percent plus one of the votes in both chambers.

Alvarado, 52, is married to the Rev. Irma Alvarado, with whom he has fathered two children.
