Faith & Form Honors Chapel

The Rev. J. Barney Hawkins IV, Virginia Theological Seminary’s vice president for institutional advancement, writes about honors for the seminary’s chapel:

We have received the Annual Awards Issue of the magazine Faith & Form: The Interfaith Journal on Religion, Art and Architecture. On page 22 is our Immanuel Chapel!

… Of particular interest to me were the jury comments: The new chapel is contextually very strong, respecting its Virginia roots. A sense of connection is forged between the community and the campus. The jury is impressed with the great inventiveness and flexibility of the plan, which is very appropriate for a “teaching” chapel. The ruins of the old chapel have been lovingly incorporated into a contemplative green space, paying them homage.
