• 2008 Lambeth Conference Faces $3 Million Shortfall

  With less than three years remaining before the opening session, the 2008 Lambeth Conference is facing a potential cash shortfall of more than $3 million. Funding for the once every 10-year gathering of bishops from around the Anglican Communion is administered by the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC).

• Murder Charges Dropped Against Zimbabwe Bishop

  Citing procedural and technical difficulties, the Archbishop of Central Africa, the Most Rev. Bernard Malango, has dismissed charges of conduct unbecoming a member of the clergy brought against the Bishop of Harare, the Rt. Rev. Nolbert Kunonga.

• Novel Use of Canon in Virginia Raises Concerns

  A priest who left the Episcopal Church in November and, along with the majority of his former congregation, transferred to the Anglican Province of Uganda, has accused the Bishop of Virginia of stretching the canons in declaring that his resignation was a renunciation of the ordained ministry.

• New Primate for Northern India

  The Church of North India (CNI) elected a new Primate at its 12th triennial synod. The Most Rev. Joel V. Mal, Bishop of Chandigarh, was elected to a three-year term and installed as the 10th Moderator of the CNI. He succeeds the Most Rev. Z. James Terom.
