  • Global South Primates’ Letter Draws Rebuke

    A letter sent to the Archbishop of Canterbury and bearing the signature of 17 primates in attendance at the recent South to South meeting in Egypt questioned whether the official relationship between the state and the Church of England is “obsolete and a hindrance to the Gospel” given that homosexuals will be able to register civil partnerships effective Dec. 5. The letter, which was released while General Synod was in session and not read by the Most Rev. Rowan Williams until after it was released to the public, drew a rebuke from Lambeth Palace.

  • Virginia Congregation Votes to Leave

    In an afternoon meeting, Nov. 14, the Rev. Phil Ashey, informed the Diocese of Virginia that he had resigned as missioner of South Riding Church in Fairfax and that the congregation had voted to withdraw from the Episcopal Church and affiliate with the Rt. Rev. Benezeri Kisembo, Bishop of Rwenzori in the Anglican Church of Uganda.
