No Decision Yet on Florida Seven
In responding to a request for alternative episcopal oversight from seven priests, the Bishop of Florida is consulting widely and is aware that many Episcopalians will be affected by whatever decision he announces, according to a diocesan spokesperson, Paul Van Brunt. Earlier this week, the Rt. Rev. John Howard briefed the standing committee on the situation at a regularly scheduled meeting.

Diocese Invests $600K in Downtown Minneapolis Church
In its first 50 years of ministry, Gethsemane Church in Minneapolis established 29 mission congregations and the first hospital in the city. The church was downgraded to mission status last year, but it received a vote of confidence from the diocese recently when the diocesan council overwhelmingly approved a resolution to invest up to $600,000 over the next six years.

Fort Worth Diocese Petitions Panel of Reference
By making the ordination of women to all orders of ministry compulsory, the Episcopal Church set itself apart from the rest of the Anglican Communion long before there arose the current controversy over the ordination of “partnered” homosexual persons and the blessing of same-gender unions unions, according to the Diocese of Fort Worth, which filed a petition with the Panel of Reference, seeking protection from the Archbishop of Canterbury for its traditional beliefs.

Archbishop's Panel Stays Out of Connecticut Dispute
The Archbishop of Canterbury’s Panel of Reference will play no role in the dispute over Delegated Episcopal Pastoral Oversight [DEPO] in the Diocese of Connecticut, according to a spokesperson for the Bishop of Connecticut, the Rt. Rev. Andrew D. Smith.

Church Center Staff Critical of Stand by Bishop of New York
It was “unfortunate” and “disappointing” to some senior-level staff members of the Episcopal Church Center that the Rt. Rev. Mark S. Sisk, Bishop of New York, did not first consult with the Executive Council Committee on Social Responsibility in Investments (SRI) before July 21 when he publicly accused it of promoting “divestment from the State of Israel.”
