The Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, Bishop of North Carolina, recently announced that he will not allow his name to be considered for election as the next Presiding Bishop.
He made the announcement in electronic correspondence to his clergy. “I am committed to serving here for the foreseeable years to enable the growth of a diocesan community passionately committed to the gospel mission of Jesus, and to be the Church for all people,” he said.
Bishop Curry was consecrated Bishop of North Carolina in 2000.
