The Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF), the outreach arm of the Anglican Communion Network, dispersed more than $1.5 million in grants for aid projects in partnership with Anglicans from a number of countries in the Global South during its first year of operation. According to a press release dated Jan. 31, ARDF has also approved 11 grants amounting to more than $360,000 for 2006.
Following the earthquake in Pakistan last fall, ARDF provided more than $40,000 in relief to the survivors. The aid included shelter for 800 individuals and enough food to feed 1,600 people for three months.
ARDF works through Geneva Global, Inc., a professional philanthropic management agency that helps identify and manage local projects in remote regions of the world.
“Our partnership with Geneva Global enables us to have confidence that the contributions we receive are providing life-changing, measurable results in some of the most challenging places in the Anglican Communion,” said Canon Nancy Morton, executive director of ARDF.
