  • Bishops Propose Primatial Vicar for Petitioning Dioceses

    A group of bishops, including Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, has developed a proposal responding to requests articulated in "An Appeal to the Archbishop of Canterbury" regarding an alternate primatial relationship for petitioning dioceses. The proposal has been submitted to the Archbishop of Canterbury and to the bishops of the petitioning dioceses.

  • Network Bishops Reject ‘Primatial Vicar’ Offer; Recommit to Mediated Solution

    Speaking on behalf of the Anglican Communion Network of which he is moderator, the Rt. Rev. Robert Duncan, Bishop of Pittsburgh, said he was heartened by the “primatial vicar” proposal that Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori announced earlier today and reiterated his commitment to find a mediated solution. Seven Network dioceses, including Pittsburgh, have requested alternate primatial oversight (APO).

  • Online Advent Calendar a Teaching Tool for Parents

    An online calendar designed by the Diocese of Washington in part to help parents teach their children about Advent becomes active Dec. 1. In addition to the calendar there are other Advent-related activities available at the site for children.
