In a vote by orders, clergy and lay deputies to the annual convention in the Diocese of Pittsburgh on Nov. 2 strongly approved the first reading of a constitutional change to remove language acceding to the national church constitution and canons.
If the constitutional amendment passes convention on a second reading, slated for November 2008, a future diocesan convention could in theory choose to realign the diocese into union with another Anglican Communion province.
