There was less debate this year before clergy and lay deputies to convention in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh voted for the second consecutive year to break ties with the General Convention of The Episcopal Church. The vote totals to amend its diocesan constitution and join the Anglican Church of the Southern Cone were similar to last year.

In a vote by orders at Church of the Ascension in Oakland, Pa., clergy voted by a margin of 79 percent in favor. The vote in the lay order was 63 percent. Last year the margins were 81 percent in the clergy order and 67 percent in the lay order. Changes to the constitution in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh require approval at two consecutive annual conventions.
