The Election Committee in the Diocese of Dallas announced a slate of six candidates for the election of a bishop suffragan March 29. The nominees are:

  • The Rev. Leander S. Harding, associate professor of pastoral theology and head of chapel, Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, Ambridge, Pa.;
  • the Rev. Canon David W. Holland, rector, Church of the Annunciation, Lewisville, Texas;
  • the Rev. Raymond E. Jennison, Jr., priest-in-charge, St David’s, Garland, Texas;
  • the Rev. Canon Paul E. Lambert, canon to the ordinary for the Diocese of Dallas;
  • the Rev Canon Neal O. Michell, canon missioner for strategic development for the Diocese of Dallas;
  • the Rev. Ally Perry, vicar, St. John the Apostle, Pottsboro, Texas.

Personal interview sessions with the candidates are scheduled to be held the day before the election. The special electing convention will be held at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Dallas. The bishop suffragan will be responsible for clergy recruitment, development, and deployment as well as congregational development, especially in the rural areas of the diocese.

The person elected is required by national church canon to obtain consent from a majority of standing committees and bishops with jurisdiction. The consecration of the bishop suffragan is tentatively scheduled to be held July 12 at St. Michael and All Angels’ Church in Dallas.
