The bishop coadjutor nominating committee for the Diocese of South Dakota will receive names for nomination from Sept. 1 through Oct. 15. The slate of nominees is scheduled to be announced in March, according to Mary Armin, diocesan administrative assistant.
Bishop Creighton Robertson, 64, first called for the election of his successor during diocesan convention two years ago. The special electing convention is scheduled to be held May 9 at a hotel convention center in Pierre.
Under the canons, Bishop Robertson must step down within three years after the election of a successor. He has not yet announced resignation plans, Ms. Armin said.
