An overnight fire destroyed one of the historic buildings on the Nashotah House Seminary campus in Wisconsin on April 2. There were no injuries, according to the Rev. William Easterling, associate dean for administration.

Cole Cottage, which was completed in 1887, was originally built for the widow of a Nashotah House Seminary dean. In recent years, the two-story, wood frame house has been used for faculty housing, but it has been vacant since last summer when the previous occupant retired and relocated, Fr. Easterling said.

“One of the seminarians saw the fire around 12:15 a.m. and called it in right away, but it was too late to save it,” Fr. Easterling said, adding that the structure was fully insured.

The seminary is waiting to hear from its adjuster, but Fr. Easterling said it was unlikely that the structure would be rebuilt.
