The official residence of the Rt. Rev. James Tengatenga, the new chairman of the Anglican Consultative Council and Bishop of Southern Malawi, was robbed while he was in Jamaica attending the meeting.

A source at the administrative offices of the ACC told the Nyasa Times, a local Malawi newspaper, that thieves stole computers, cash and foreign currency worth about $8,000. Three guards who were reportedly on duty when the thieves entered through the front door have been arrested for questioning.

The thieves went directly to the bishop’s bedroom, woke up his sleeping wife and forced her to help locate the cash and computers. There was no violence, however.
