Bishops Reconsider Mission Funding Endorsement
At the close of the House of Bishops' business session today during General Convention in Anaheim, the Rt. Rev. Robert C. Johnson, retired Bishop of Western North Carolina, asked the house to reconsider its July 9 vote endorsing the multi-year $5 million program to create a major fund development program for The Episcopal Church.

Deputies Begin Special B033 Discussions
The House of Deputies met today in the first of two special sessions to discuss Resolution B033, the 2006 General Convention resolution that called for restraint in consenting to the election of a bishop “whose manner of life presents a challenge to the wider church and will lead to further strains on communion.”

Archbishop Hopes for Restraint, Stresses Value of Episcopal Church
Preaching a meditation on Thursday morning at General Convention’s Holy Eucharist, the Archbishop of Canterbury observed that every word he writes or preaches is “scrutinized and interpreted and picked over for hidden meanings and agendas,” adding that he expected this day would be no exception.

Deputies Approve ‘Facilitated Communication’ on B033
The House of Deputies agreed Wednesday to an unusual meeting as a committee of the whole regarding the consecration of any future bishops who are openly gay or lesbian. The discussion will occur on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
