MISSIONARY FERVOR: Julia Chester Emery, whose life and ministry are celebrated January 9, served as national secretary of the Women's Auxiliary of the Board of Missions from 1876 to 1916. She visited every diocese in the Episcopal Church, as well as several foreign countries, to support and stir up Christian missionary work.
