Nominations Open in Award for Best Theological Writing

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, opened nominations for the 2016 Michael Ramsey Prize today. According to The Church Times, the prize awards up to £10,000 for the best theological writing in the service of the Church.

The Times, which serves as media partner for the prize, invites readers to submit their nominations. The winner will be awarded  £10,000. Shortlisted authors will each receive £1,000. The deadline for submission for new titles – those published between January 2012 and December 2014 by living authors – is June 12, 2015.

“The Michael Ramsey Prize aims to celebrate the most promising contemporary theological writing and to help more people to enjoy it,” said Archbishop Welby in a statement. “I am looking forward to seeing the books that will be nominated this year, and to exploring how they can help the Church in thinking more deeply, acting more wisely, and witnessing more effectively to the glory of God.”

The prize was founded in 2005 by Archbishop Rowan Williams and is awarded every three years.
