The Living Church 2010 Print Advertising Specifications & Policies
ELECTRONIC FILES
FORMAT: We accept PDF files created in conformance with either the PDF/X-1a or PDF/x-4 standards.
Note: Most applications will create PDF files that will conform to these standards, In all cases, however, the application must be configured properly to export a usable file with all fonts embedded, high-resolution graphics, and CMYK, Gray or Pantone spot colors.. Export settings are available for QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Distiller upon request.
RESOLUTION: All files should be a minimum of 266 dpi (including imported files.) 300 dpi at 100% of final placement size is the preferred resolution. (NOTE: dpi=dots per inch.) Images from websites will not be accepted, as the resolution is too low (72 dpi).
If working with InDesign, please be sure to include a high Resolution PDF file.
WE WILL NOT ACCEPT: Ads created in Corel Draw, PageMaker, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or WordPerfect. Faxes, cut and pasted hard copy to scan are not acceptable.
4-COLOR ADS (and imported files): Must be in CMYK, not RGB.
Note: RGB colors not converted to CMYK will appear muted compared to original color. Therefore, we cannot guarantee color correctness. All PMS colors should be converted to CMYK unless a specific PMS color is specified and has been purchased. (Pantone colors are available at an additional cost. Please contact Tom Parker, ad manager, for quote.)
FULL-PAGE, TRIMMED: Dimensions are 8.25” w x 10.875” h.
For Bleeds: FULL-PAGE ONLY: Please allow for an addition of 1/8” trim on all sides.
TLC DOES NOT TRIM FRACTIONAL BLEEDS, AS THEY MUST BE RETAINED WITHIN GIVEN FRACTIONAL DIMENSIONS.
PROOFS: A print-quality match proof of your ad must be included with your submission. The Living Church will not be responsible for color matching laser-jet or ink-jet generated proofs.
4-COLOR ADS: Hard-copy proofs must accompany color ads. We are not able to maintain quality assurance, correctness or color without a print quality match proof (Kodak Approval or Fuji Final Proof).
The Living Church will not assume quality of color correctness without a color proof.
SUBMISSION of your ads can be supplied in the following ways:
1.) SEND your files on CD accompanied by a hard copy match proof to Tom Parker, Advertising Manager, The Living Church, P.O. Box 514036, Milwaukee, WI 53203-3436.
For overnight/express mail send to 816 East Juneau Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202-2793.
2.) E-MAIL your files (only if under 25 MB — NOTE: Files can be stuffed
or zipped for e-mail transfer which usually decreases files by half the size) to: Tom Parker, advertising manager at tparker@livingchurch.org and cc: John Schuessler, managing editor at jschuessler@livingchurch.org. Because we are a national weekly, you must indicate what issue date(s) the ad is for.
GUIDELINES/POLICY
DEADLINES: All ads must be submitted at least 30 days prior to intended publication date unless pre-arranged with TLC advertising manager. For Parish Administration and special theme issues, deadline is 35 days prior to publication. Late ads submitted after artwork due date are subject to additional fees, or may not be accepted.
CANCELLATIONS: Must be made in writing (or e-mail) to Tom Parker, Advertising Manager, a minimum of 60 days prior to planned publication date. Cancellations will not be accepted via phone.
AD PRODUCTION
The Living Church will design and produce ads for advertisers at a rate of $75 per hour, or a negotiated rate. Advertising materials (copy, artwork, logos, etc) must be submitted at least 45 days prior to intended publication date. All ads created by The Living Church are sole property and cannot be printed in any other publication without permission of The Living Church Foundation.
AD CHANGES/REVISIONS
Ads that require additional corrections or revisions after artwork due date will be charged a minimum of $75.
ADVERTISING ACCEPTANCE
The Living Church management reserves the right to refuse, reject or cancel any ad for any reason at any time without liability.
AGENCY COMMISSION
The Living Church will grant a 15% commission to recognized ad agencies. A statement of “agency of record” MUST be submitted by advertising client on official letterhead before all media buys and insert orders processed. All ad placements, correspondence, ad creative and ad file execution to The Living Church
and billing MUST go through ad agency of record.
