Tory Baucum on Peacemaking

Adapted from Lambeth Palace/ACNS

The Rev. Tory Baucum, who was installed as one of Canterbury Cathedral’s Six Preachers in March, has spoken with Lambeth Palace’s media team about his motivation for peacemaking and reconciliation.

The Archbishop of Canterbury appointed Baucum, who has an established reputation in preaching, evangelism and peacemaking, as a Six Preacher in Canterbury. This was offered in recognition of this commitment to reconciliation, which is one of Archbishop Justin Welby’s ministry priorities.

Truro Church, where Baucum became rector in 2007, seceded from the Diocese of Virginia and the Episcopal Church in 2006 and subsequently became part of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Despite the church and the diocese being involved in litigation over property rights, Baucum, a priest in ACNA, developed a close friendship with Bishop Shannon, and a settlement was subsequently reached.

A transcript of the interview is available here.
