TREC Offers Free Courses

The courses are:

Instructors include the Rev. Dwight Zscheile, the Rt. Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves, the Rev. Stephanie Spellers, the Rev. Winnie Varghese, and theologian Fredrica Harris Thompsett. Gray-Reeves and Zscheile are members of the task force.

Each course will take an average learner about 45 minutes to complete and consist of four to six video lectures. Students need not take the whole course, but can skip around and reach, watch, and learn at their own pace. ChurchNext requires registration and encourages online participation, but students also are free to learn without interacting with others.

ChurchNext offers courses across a spectrum of beliefs and congregations, including “How to Be a Crazy Christian” by the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry, “How to Discern God’s Will” by Ruth Haley Barton, “Introducing Church Marketing” by the Rev. Jake Dell, “Introducing Islam” by Imam Mustaphah Eiturk, “Introduction to Advent” by the Rev. Tim Schenck, and “Praying the Collects” by the Rev. Ellen Wondra. ChurchNext offers monthly individual and church subscriptions for access to all its courses.
